Sus intereses de investigación se orientan en torno a la pobreza, estado de bienestar, políticas públicas y América Latina. Actualmente, es co-autor de tres manuscritos, en inglés, que se encuentran en preparación: (1) In-Work Poverty in Latin America: the Case of Chile during the Period 1990-2013; (2) The impact of spell recurrence on poverty dynamics in less developed contexts: The case of Chile during the period 2006-2009; y (3) How should we ask surveys questions about how many people do know you? Experimental evidence regarding the role of response categories and follow-up questions. En 2012, publicó, también en inglés, el libro Helping the Poor in Latin America: Three Studies on Public Transfers, Social Services, and Poverty in Different Institutional Contexts.
