El Instituto de Matemáticas (IMA) de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso1
(PUCV) llama a concurso para proveer dos cargos de profesores jornada completa en
Didáctica de la Matemática (DM).

Cargo del profesor en Didáctica de la Matemática en el IMA
El académico se debe incorporar a las tareas propias de la docencia de Pregrado
(Licenciatura y Pedagogía en Matemáticas) y Postgrado (Magíster y Doctorado en
DM).

La investigación en DM se desarrolla desde perspectivas epistemológicas, cognitivas,
semióticas, socioculturales y antropológicas, en particular en las líneas: Pensamiento
Matemático Específico, Modelación y Formación de Profesores.

Se espera de los candidatos un fuerte potencial en investigación con capacidad de
ganar proyectos con financiamiento externo nacional y/o internacional. Además,
como apoyo al desarrollo de los investigadores, la PUCV financia proyectos de
investigación concursables internos (como forma de potenciar a las postulaciones a
fondos externos) y cuenta con incentivos económicos por publicaciones de alto
impacto.

Perfil del postulante

Los candidatos deben tener grado de Doctor en Didáctica de la Matemática o áreas
afines, un compromiso tanto con la docencia como con la investigación y capacidad de
sustentar las líneas de investigación existentes o bien liderar una nueva.
Idioma Español y por su proyección internacional con conocimientos en otros idiomas, como
inglés.

Tipo de contratación 

La contratación será renovable anualmente. Después de un período de dos a cuatro años, el profesor debe iniciar el proceso de jerarquización académica.

En el caso de un académico con trayectoria destacada en investigación, la PUCV tendrá
un sistema especial de contratación con un proceso de jerarquización inmediata.

Salario

Al cambio actual, el salario anual esperado es de aproximadamente US$ 30.000,
distribuidos en 12 meses y sujetos a descuentos tributarios, de salud y previsión. Este
último será incrementado de acuerdo a las evaluaciones una vez que se haya sometido
al proceso de jerarquización académica.

Los resultados se comunicarán el 15 de enero de 2018.

The Mathematics Institute (IMA) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso1
(PUCV) has opened two full time positions in Mathematics Education (ME).

Position of Professor of Mathematics Education at the IMA
The scholar will be involved in the typical tasks of teaching at the Undergraduate
(Bachelor's Degree and Mathematics Education majors) and Graduate (Masters and
Ph. D. in ME) levels.

Research in ME is developed from epistemological, cognitive, semiotic, socio‐cultural
and anthropological perspectives, specifically along the lines of Specific Mathematic
Thought, Modeling and Teacher Education.

We expect candidates to have a strong research potential and the ability to obtain
grants with national and/or international funding. In addition, in order to support the
development of researchers, PUCV funds internal research projects (as a way of
promoting applications to external funds) and offers financial incentives for high‐
impact publications.

Profile of Applicant

Candidates should have a Doctorate in Mathematics Education or similar field, a
commitment to teaching as well as research and the ability to support the existing
lines of research or lead new ones.

Language

Spanish, and because of its international projection knowledge of other languages,
such as English, is desirable.

Type of Contract

The contract will be renewable annually. After a period of two to four years, the
professor must initiate the academic tenure process.

In the case of a scholar with an outstanding research record, the PUCV will have a
special contract system with an immediate academic tenure process.

Salary

Given the current exchange rate, the expected annual salary is approximately US$
30.000, distributed in 12 months and subject to tax, health and retirement plan
discounts. Salary will be increased in accordance to evaluation once the professor
undergoes the academic tenure process.
