School of Biochemical Engineering
Since 1969
Biochemical Engineering was born from the integration of Process Engineering with Biological Sciences, so as to meet the need of the 1940s to massively dispose of antibiotics, special foods, vitamins and other products of biological origin, and being its purpose the processing of biological material and the use of biological activity to our benefit. The School of Biochemical Engineering (BCE) of the PUCV has been a pioneer in Chile, and one of the first in the Latin American field, in the training of professionals and in the cultivation of the discipline of Biochemical Engineering. Today the BCE contributes to the training of professionals and postgraduates who contribute to the development of the country with solutions that impact the quality of life of people, in the areas of food, energy, environment and health.
